A New View

Tulip growing in Scotch Broom. Near Monroe, Oregon.

Tulip growing in Scotch Broom. Near Monroe, Oregon.

I walked and looked at mushrooms wildly

growing in the fields.

I would trust one from the market rather

than growing wild.

At least it was an outing.

Slowly, I plodded.

Trying to avoid the mud was not

in the cards.

It was quiet & peaceful, midday–sun

peeking out–a distant bird–hardly

audible.

My mind & body needed to see & feel

& smell/breathe something different

than indoor restrictions limit you to.

I need to see and be seen.  It gives me

a sense that things are alright and I’m

not going crazy staring at the back of

my eyeballs; inside my head, all the time.

(It worked–it always does!)
