Kids as Models

Little kids have an inherent goodness.

They care.

Sometimes they act like they don’t.

They just don’t know, or haven’t “learned”

any better.

The golden rule has not sunk in to their

little brains yet!

Lessons often, maybe even usually, come

with pain.

Sometimes, that can be avoided by

listening to “wiser” adults.

But that often comes at the price

of (not) developing your own voice,

values, and thinking.

Parroting produces conformity.

Useful to try, but it may not fit,

and need to be discarded.

Still in all, these little guys

somehow are “tamed”, yet we

don’t want an army of lock-step

soldiers who never question

authority.

Even us adults can cop to

that one.

And even sometimes–maybe

more often than not, we

can learn from them–

the innocent fun lovers

of the world, laughing &

playing most of the hours

of their day.
