Space

As I float back down to

earth

with my Mary Poppins

umbrella,

I see my feet,

firmly planted on

the ground, once again.

I wonder

where I’ve been?

All I know is, like the

stars scattered

across the sky,

I was up there

somewhere, too.

Once in a while

I’d dip my toe

to test the waters

of earth’s firmness,

its support,

and zip right

back up into

Sunrise over farmland. Near Monroe, Oregon

Sunrise over farmland. Near Monroe, Oregon

a starry, starry

night of oblivion,

spinning

like a galaxy

never coming

to rest in one

particular spot.
