Take a Shot

Spit out the cotton

in your mouth

you old cottonmouth

(snake).

Spit it out

& speak up.

You can’t regret

a mistake

if you didn’t

try.

Risk the repercussion

the stab, the sting

of pain

in being wrong.

Don’t mow the world

down, machine-gun-like

with your shots

but take careful aim

and hit one target

at a time.

Nothing happens

if you don’t pull

the trigger

and take a shot.

Don’t waste your

ammo, though.

Shoot

at something

in range.
