Facing Fears

Thank you for my courage–the ability

to go forward with the scarier option–

and usually the most fun and

interesting.

Playing it safe the same old way seems

like you could get by on that path,

& you could, but you don’t

build your courage muscle.

You don’t grow into a person

with a wider repertoire of

experiences you’ve faced and

conquered–

risks you’ve failed to negotiate with

the world, never knowing how

far you could take your tack, to

an ideal of unlimited fulfillment.

They’re little steps, but avoiding

them, you stunt your full expression

as a human being.

So I keep at it, waffle through

the anxiety, willing to risk

failure, and testing my

judgement, continually

refining it.  No one can

predict the outcome but

your internal growth,

extinguishing all unreasonable

fears, is enhanced.

If you’re afraid, that’s a

signal, directing your

direction and an opportunity

to become more.
