Hanging in

I feel like I’m walking

into a firing squad.

Chances of dodging

a hailstorm of bullets

is nil.

I don’t want to exit

this incarnation

any earlier than I

have to.

Heaven may be fun

but many of us

(7 billion?) choose to

stay in the angst

of a physical body

despite the weather-

ing of impossible

odds.

Yet, we make it.

Call it a miracle

when it surpasses

our belief in what’s

possible.

We travel slowly

toward the goal

of liberation.  Some

may even have

claimed they’ve

attained it–

and are still here.

Hanging on.

Hanging in.
