Be Seen

Fall colored aspen leaf and rose hip. Montana

I’m walking more into

the world from the shadows.

A lot of confusion in the middle.

Who’s going to watch your back?

There is a solace

a quiet retreat

where demands are minimal

and I can be myself

without concern of judgment.

I will find that place

even as I come out of the

shadows

and am seen for what

& who I am.

There’s a false safety

in “hiding” as if we could

ever hide.

Vulnerability is a distinct

reality and doesn’t allow

for hiding

of any sort.

It’s kind of fun not to

have to worry over others’

reactions when you feel

you’re “enough” and good

as is.

Yet it’s scary ‘out there’

in emotion-land.  Finding

what I like can be a delicate

maneuver through the ‘fragile’

world of others.
