Islands of Peace

I feel selfish

“needing” so much

alone time.

I take every opportunity

to go within & be

with myself.

To recover fully,

I need to isolate.

I feel like a Thoreau–

Endless days in the

woods & I’d find

things to amuse

myself.

My soul would

flower alone

like that.

I’d have so much

more to offer

others when we

were once again

together.

Rain-imposed

self-reflection

is especially

nourishing–

no temptation

to distract yourself

with the company

of others.

Such islands

of peace

are life saving

for me.

They revive

my spirit

and renew

my soul.
